WOMAN SENTENCED TO 5+ YEARS FOR SETTING UP 16 KILO COCAINE DEAL IN KANSAS CITY, KAN.

KANSAS CITY, KAN. – Doris Antisdell, 27, Los Angeles, Calif., has been sentenced to 63 months in federal prison for setting up a 21 kilogram cocaine deal in Johnson County, Kan., U.S. Attorney Lanny Welch said today.

In March, Antisdell pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to possess and distribute cocaine. In her plea, Antisdell admitted that in 2005 she was a member of a drug trafficking organization that smuggled cocaine from Mexico to Kansas and shipped cash proceeds back to Mexico. On June 10, 2005, a courier driving a vehicle carrying cocaine arrived in Kansas City, Kan., and contacted Antisdell for instructions. Antisdell told the courier to drive to the McDonald’s restaurant at 119th and I-35 in Olathe. When law enforcement officers seized the vehicle they found 21.1 kilograms (more than 35 pounds) of cocaine in the car.

Co-defendants in the case include:
Jose J. Alvardo-Valencia, who was sentenced to 220 months.
Maria Bermudez, who was sentenced to 87 months.
Martha I. Flores, who was sentenced to 84 months.
Norma Orozco, who was sentenced to 51 months.
Georgina Gutierrez, who was sentenced to 48 months.
Alma Sameniego-Aguirre, who was sentenced to 41 months.
Angeles Figueroa, who was sentenced to 37 months.
Roxanna Sanchez, who was sentenced to 30 months.

Welch commended the Drug Enforcement Administration, Assistant U.S. Attorney David Smith, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Tris Hunt for their work on the case.
