FEDERAL CHARGES FILED IN TOPEKA BANK ROBBERY
TOPEKA, KAN. – Paul Sayer Kjelland, 30, who is in custody in California, is charged with robbing Fidelity State Bank, 300 S.W. 29th, Topeka, Kan., on Dec. 5, 2007.
If convicted, he faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in federal prison and a fine up to $250,000. The Topeka Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation worked on the case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Randy Hendershot is prosecuting.
OTHER INDICTMENTS
A grand jury meeting Wednesday in Topeka also returned the following indictments:
Judy Renee Fowler, 32, Salina, Kan., and Angela Daniel McNair, 30, Salina, Kan., are charged with distributing crack cocaine. The crimes are alleged to have occurred Dec. 17, 2007, in Saline County, Kan.
If convicted, Fowler faces a penalty of not less than 1 year and not more than 40 years and a fine up to $2 million. McNair faces a penalty of not less than 10 years and not more than life and a fine up to $4 million. The Salina Police Department investigated. Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Jason Coody is prosecuting.
Dontelle Maurice Rochelle, 32, who is in custody in Wabaunsee County, Kan., is charged with one count of possession with intent to distribute marijuana, one count of possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, one count of unlawful possession of a firearm after felony convictions, and one count of unlawful possession of ammunition after felony convictions. The crimes are alleged to have occurred Feb. 28, 2008, in Shawnee County, Kan.
If convicted, he faces a penalty of not more than 10 years in federal prison and a fine up to $500,000 on the marijuana charge, not less than 5 years and not more than life on the charge of carrying a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking, and a maximum penalty of 10 years and a fine up to $250,000 on each of the other two charges. The case resulted from a traffic stop by the Kansas Highway Patrol. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives investigated. Assistant U.S. Attorney Tony Mattivi is prosecuting..
Shawn Michael Gill, 27, Leavenworth, Kan., is charged with unlawful possession of a firearm after a felony conviction. The crime is alleged to have occurred Dec. 21, 2007 in Shawnee County, Kan.
If convicted, he faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in federal prison and a fine up to $250,000. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives investigated. Assistant U.S. Attorney Greg Hough is prosecuting.
As in any criminal case, a person is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. The indictments filed merely contain allegations of criminal
conduct.
