LAWRENCE MAN SENTENCED TO 7+ YEARS IN DRUG TRAFFICKING CASE
KANSAS CITY, KAN. – Lonnie Ray Teichman, 49, Lawrence, Kan., has been sentenced to 92 months in federal prison for drug trafficking, U.S. Attorney Lanny Welch said today.
Teichman pleaded guilty to one count of possession with intent to distribute more than 5 grams of crack cocaine within 1,000 feet of a public elementary school. In his plea, Teichman admitted that from 2003 to 2006 he participated in a drug trafficking conspiracy in Lawrence with co-defendants Don Marcus Gibler, Aharlock Fixico, Branden Scott Walker, Carl Ray Roubison, Ryan Ezell Fowler, John Burke Holt, Ryan Lavell Green, James William Beltch, Katheryn Alexander and others.
In 2004, investigators carried out a series of controlled purchases of crack cocaine that took place at Teichman’s apartment at 1401 E. 21st Terrace in Lawrence. The apartment was located within 1,000 feet of Kennedy Elementary School. Investigators also determined that conspirators used Teichman’s apartment to manufacture crack cocaine.
Among the other defendants:
– Don Marcus Gibler was sentenced to 324 months.
– Aharlock Fixico was sentenced to 235 months.
– Ryan Lavell Green was sentenced to 130 months.
– Branden Scott Walker was sentenced to 121 months.
– Ryan Ezell Fowler was sentenced to 120 months.
– John Burke Holt was sentenced to 87 months.
– James William Beltch was sentenced to 63 months.
– Carl Ray Roubison was sentenced to 41 months.
– Katherine Alexander is set for sentencing Oct. 19, 2009.
Welch commended the city-county Drug Enforcement Unit, comprising officers from the Lawrence Police Department and the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and Assistant U.S. Attorney Scott Rask for their work on the case.
