THREE SENTENCED IN LAWRENCE DRUG TRAFFICKING CASE
KANSAS CITY, KAN. – Three members of a drug trafficking organization in Lawrence, Kan., have been sentenced to federal prison, U.S. Attorney Lanny Welch said today.
In their pleas, the three defendants admitted they were associated with a drug trafficking organization headed by co-defendants Gerald Dunn and Shaune Frazier that operated in the Lawrence area from 2000 to 2006.
The defendants who were sentenced are:
- Ahmad Austin, 29, Lawrence, Kan., who was sentenced to 168 months. In February, he pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute crack cocaine. Austin sold crack to investigators on three occasions in the summer of 2005 during meetings in the parking lot of a Perkins Restaurant in Lawrence
- Troy Jarrett, 36, Lawrence, Kan., who was sentenced to 120 months. In February, he pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute crack cocaine. Jarrett was arrested twice with crack in 2005.
- Christina Wilkins, 31, Lawrence, Kan., who was sentenced to 72 months. In February, she pleaded guilty to one count of distributing crack cocaine. Wilkins sold crack to investigators four times in 2005.
Co-defendants in the case are:
Leland Roebuck, who was sentenced to 150 months in federal prison.
Stephen Barbee, who is set for sentencing June 15, 2009.
Gary Brown, who is set for sentencing Nov. 16, 2009.
Corey Price, who is set for sentencing June 8, 2009.
Aaron Jackson, who is set for sentencing July 20, 2009.
Shaune Frazier, who is set for sentencing July 20, 2009.
Mike Wilkins, who is set for sentencing June 8, 2009.
Gerald Dunn, whose case was transferred to the Western District of Missouri for sentencing.
Welch commended the Lawrence Police Department, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, the Kansas Highway Patrol, The Arizona Department of Public Safety, Assistant U.S. Attorney Kim Hare and Assistant U.S. Attorney Scott Rask for their work on the case.
