CRAWFORD COUNTY, DODGE CITY AND ROSE HILL
TO RECEIVE MORE THAN $200,000 IN SCHOOL SAFETY GRANTS
WICHITA -- Dodge City, Rose Hill and Crawford County, Kan., are receiving school safety grants from the U.S. Department of Justice.
The Dept. Of Justice’s office of Community Oriented Policing Services is making the grants through its Secure Our Schools program. The Kansas recipients are:
– Dodge City, $115,256.
– The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office, $96,264
– The city of Rose Hill, $25,291.
“Students should be safe at school,” said U.S. Attorney Eric Melgren. “These grants can be used to pay up to half the cost of installing metal detectors, locks, lighting and other equipment to deter crime.”
The grants also can be used to pay half the cost of security assessments and training.
Nationwide, the COPS program is making almost $15 million available to local law enforcement agencies in 38 states for school safety measures. For more information about COPS, see www.cops.usdoj.gov.
