OTTAWA MAN GOES TO FEDERAL PRISON FOR 10 YEARS
IN CHILD PORNOGRAPHY CASE

KANSAS CITY, KAN. – An Ottawa man Friday was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for possession of child pornography.

Richard Dimoush, 41, was sentenced during a hearing before U.S. District Judge Kathryn Vratil in Kansas City.

“Mr. Dimoush admitted installing a camera in the ceiling of the women’s bathroom of the Plaza Theater in Ottawa,” said U.S. Attorney Eric Melgren. “In his plea, he also admitted possessing various items of child pornography, including a video he had recorded of himself having sex with a minor female.”

In his plea, Dimoush admitted that on April 22, 2005, a minor female employed by him at the Plaza Theater in Ottawa discovered a camera located in the ceiling of the women’s bathroom. The girl’s father complained to police. Investigators executed search warrants at the theater and Dimoush’s home.

They seized a computer on which forensic examiners found several items of child pornography, including a video in which an adult male holds down a screaming, 4-year-old girl while he ejaculates in her face. They also seized videos recorded in the bathroom at the theater, as well as a video Dimoush recorded of himself having oral and sexual intercourse with a minor female.
Dimoush was taken into custody after the hearing. The federal Bureau of Prisons will determine where he serves his sentence.

Melgren commended the work of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Ottawa Police Department, which investigated the case, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Kim Martin, who prosecuted the case.
