Lexington, Ky. — Gloria Barber, 46, of Nicholasville, Ky., pled guilty today to criminal attempt to possess with the intent to distribute oxycodone, before United States District Court Judge Jennifer B. Coffman after being indicted in October of 2007.

In the course of her guilty plea, Barber admitted that she and her daughter, Crystal Barber attempted to acquire 283 oxycodne 80 mg pills that contained a detectable amount of oxycodone for $9,905.00. The oxycodone pills were to be distributed in the Fayette/Jessamine County area. In December of last year, Crystal Barber pled guilty to the same offense. Both defendants are set to be sentenced June 12th, at 10:00 a.m.

James A. Zerhusen, Acting United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Kentucky, and Special Agent in Charge Robert L. Corso, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) jointly made the announcement today after Barber entered her guilty plea.

The investigation was conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration. The United States was represented in the case by Assistant United States Attorney Roger W. West.

Both Barbers face a maximum prison sentence of 20 years in prison. However, any sentence following conviction would be imposed by the court after consideration of the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and the federal statute governing the imposition of a sentence.
