MEXICAN NATIONAL SENTENCED TO 4 YEARS AND 3 MONTHS FOR ILLEGAL RE-ENTRY INTO THE UNITED STATES AFTER DEPORTATION
– Record as an aggravated felon

LOUISVILLE, KY - Alfredo Guerrero-Corona, age 40, a Mexican national, was sentenced to 4 years and 3 months in United States District Court, Louisville, Kentucky, for illegal re–entry after having been previously deported, U.S. Attorney David L. Huber of the Western District of Kentucky announced today. Thomas B. Russell, Judge, United States District Court, also sentenced Guerrero-Corona to 3 years of supervised release following incarceration. There is no parole in the federal judicial system.

Guerrero-Corona pled guilty and admitted that on or about June 12, 2007, in Hardin County, he was found in the United States having previously been deported and removed from the United States on or about April 26, 2005, through the Brownsville, Texas Port of Entry. Guerrero-Corona further did not have approval to re-enter the United States from either the Attorney General of the United States or the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, as required by law.

Additional facts relating to Guerrero-Corona reveal that on June 12, 2007, Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agents encountered Guerrero-Corona after he was released from the Elizabethtown Police Department Detention Center having served five days for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Additional records check revealed that Guerrero-Corona is an aggravated felon who was convicted of Possession with intent to distribute marijuana in 1992 out of Prince William County, Virginia.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Daniel P. Kinnicutt, and it was investigated by Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
