DAVIESS COUNTY MEN INDICTED FOR POSSESSION WITH INTENT TO DISTRIBUTE METHAMPHETAMINE
– Arrested by Kentucky State Police at traffic checkpoint

OWENSBORO, KY - A federal grand jury in Bowling Green returned an indictment on June 3, 2009, against Gilson Hoagland, age 43, of Island, Kentucky, in Daviess County, and Tracy Hamilton, age 45, of Utica, Kentucky, also in Daviess County, on charges of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, Acting United States Attorney Candace G. Hill of the Western District of Kentucky announced today.

The Indictment alleges that on May 12, 2009, in Daviess County, in the Western District of Kentucky, the defendants, each aided and abetted by the other, knowingly and intentionally possessed with intent to distribute more than five grams of methamphetamine. Hoagland and Hamilton were arrested by Kentucky State Police officers conducting a traffic checkpoint on U.S. 60 at the Daviess/Hancock County line. The troopers seized approximately 350 grams of a mixture and substance containing methamphetamine, which has a street value of approximately $100 per gram.

In the event of a conviction, the maximum potential penalties are 40 years' imprisonment, a $2,000,000 fine, and supervised release for life; and the minimum potential penalties are 5 years' imprisonment and supervised release for a period of 4 years.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Larry Fentress, and it was investigated by the Kentucky State Police.

Hoagland and Hamilton are scheduled to appear for arraignment before the United States Magistrate Judge on June 18, 2009, at 9:30 a.m., in Owensboro, Kentucky.

only and that person is presumed innocent until and unless
proven guilty.
