McCRACKEN COUNTY MAN AND GEORGIA MAN INDICTED FOR CONSPIRACY TO DISTRIBUTE COCAINE BASE
– Joint investigation by Paducah Police Department and DEA
PADUCAH, KY - A federal grand jury in Paducah returned an indictment on June 9, 2009, against Robert Hines, age 31, of Smyrna, Georgia, and James Martin, age 33, of Paducah, Kentucky, on charges of possession with intent to distribute more than 50 grams of cocaine base, Acting United States Attorney Candace G. Hill of the Western District of Kentucky announced today.
The Indictment alleges that on October 7, 2008, and also on March 19, 2009, Hines and Martin, each aided and abetted by the other, knowingly and intentionally possessed with intent to distribute more than fifty grams of cocaine base, also known as "crack" cocaine. Cocaine base has a street value of approximately $100 per gram.
In the event of a conviction, the maximum potential penalties are life imprisonment, a $4,000,000 fine, and supervised release for life; and the minimum potential penalties are ten years' imprisonment and supervised release for a period of five years.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Larry Fentress, and it was investigated by the Paducah Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration.
Hines and Martin were scheduled to appear for arraignment before the United States Magistrate Judge today at 9:30 a.m., in Paducah, Kentucky

proven guilty.
