FORT KNOX EMPLOYEE INDICTED FOR STEALING THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS WORTH OF ARMY PROPERTY
– Numerous government property seized from employee's home including an entire Humvee engine
LOUISVILLE, KY - A federal grand jury in Louisville returned an Indictment against Bobby William Fultz, of Hodgenville, Kentucky, charging him with theft of numerous quantities of government property at the Fort Knox Military Reservation, Kentucky, Acting U.S. Attorney Candace G. Hill of the Western District of Kentucky announced today.
Fultz is an automotive mechanic employed by the Army and is responsible for repairing vehicles used to train soldiers on Fort Knox. The Indictment alleges that since July 2004, Fultz has been stealing numerous items from the workplace. At Fultz's home, government investigators found a large garage full of cabinets filled with complete sets of tools and parts with Army markings, multiple Humvee tires, as well as an entire engine from a Humvee, and several boxes of "Meals Ready to Eat" (MREs). The investigators seized over $40,000 worth of property.
In the event of a conviction, the maximum potential penalties are 10 years imprisonment, a $250,000 fine, and supervised release for a period of 3 years.
The case is being prosecuted by Special Assistant United States Attorney Mike S. Ni, and was investigated by the Army Criminal Investigative Division.
Fultz is scheduled to appear for arraignment before a Magistrate Judge in United States District Court on July 21, 2009, at 1:30 p.m., in Louisville, Kentucky.
