SUPERSEDING INDICTMENT CHARGES TWO WITH CRACK CONSPIRACY

LOUISVILLE, KY - Candace G. Hill, Acting United States Attorney for the Western District of Kentucky, and Paul Vido, Special Agent in Charge of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), Louisville Field Division, jointly announced that a federal grand jury in Louisville returned a superseding indictment adding Antwone Maurice Shaw, age 31, to a previous indictment against Amber Lanay Brown, age 23, both of Louisville, Kentucky. Both Shaw and Brown are charged with conspiring to possess and distribute over 50 grams of crack cocaine and with possessing with the intent to distribute crack cocaine and cocaine. The superseding indictment also charges Shaw with being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm. The original Indictment was filed on March 3, 2008.

In the event of a conviction, the maximum potential penalties are life imprisonment, an $8,000,000 fine, and supervised release for a period of life; and the minimum potential penalties are 10 years’ imprisonment and supervised release for a period of 4 years.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Robert B. Bonar. The Louisville Field Office of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) conducted the investigation in partnership with the Louisville Metro Police Department , as part of ATF’s ongoing commitment to reduce violent crime and other threats to public safety.

Shaw and Brown are scheduled to appear for arraignment before the United States Magistrate Judge on July 21, 2009, at 9:30 a.m., in Louisville, Kentucky.

The indictment of a person by a Grand Jury is an accusation
only and that person is presumed innocent until and unless
proven guilty.
