BULLITT COUNTY MAN ADMITS POSSESSING LARGE QUANTITY OF METHAMPHETAMINE FOR DISTRIBUTION
– Meade County arrest leads to discovery of additional methamphetamine
and a pistol in Bullitt County
LOUISVILLE, KY - Michael Walker, age 48, of Shepherdsville, Kentucky, in Bullitt County, pled guilty to possessing methamphetamine with the intent to distribute it, Acting U.S. Attorney Candace G. Hill of the Western District of Kentucky announced today.
Walker admitted that on August 9, 2008, he was found in possession of 109 grams of methamphetamine powder on the parking lot of a fast food restaurant in Radcliff, Kentucky. After he was arrested, Walker consented to a search of his residence in Bullitt County where police discovered another 95 grams of methamphetamine powder, along with scales, packaging materials and a 9 millimeter semi-automatic pistol. The street value of the methamphetamine involved in this case is approximately $5,750.00
The maximum potential penalties are life imprisonment, a $4,000,000 fine, and supervised release for a period of life; and the minimum potential penalties are 10 years’ imprisonment and supervised release for a period of 8 years.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Thomas W. Dyke, and it was investigated by the Meade County Sheriff’s Office, the Bullitt County Drug Task Force and the Drug Enforcement Administration.
The plea was entered before John G. Heyburn II, Judge, United States District Court, Louisville, Kentucky.
Walker is scheduled to be sentenced before Judge Heyburn on September 29, 2009, at 11:45 a.m., in Louisville, Kentucky.
