on charges of conspiracy to distribute cocaine base, Acting U.S. Attorney Candace G. Hill of the Western District of Kentucky announced today.

The Indictment alleges that between June, 2007, and June, 2009, in Christian County in the Western District of Kentucky, and elsewhere, the defendants agreed and conspired with each other and with other persons both known and unknown to the Grand Jury, to distribute and possess with intent to distribute more than fifty grams of a mixture and substance containing cocaine base, commonly known as “crack.” The indictment does not set forth the total quantity of crack cocaine distributed, other than to say that it is fifty grams or more, which is the statutory minimum quantity for which the maximum penalties may be exacted. Crack cocaine has a street value of approximately $100 per gram.

In the event of a conviction, the maximum potential penalties are life imprisonment, an $8,000,000 fine, and supervised release for life; and the mandatory minimum penalties are ten years imprisonment, a $4,000,000 fine, and supervised release for a period of five years.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Larry Fentress, and it was investigated by the United States Drug Enforcement Administration.

Arraignment dates will be determined after the defendants are arrested and make their initial appearances before the United States Magistrate Judge.
