FEDERAL FELON INDICTED FOR ESCAPE, MANUFACTURING METH AND POSSESSION OF CHILD PORNOGRAPHY

LOUISVILLE, KY - A federal grand jury in Louisville returned an indictment against Craig Allen Carr, age 34, of Louisville, Kentucky, on charges of escape, possession of child pornography, manufacturing methamphetamine and possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute, Acting United States Attorney Candace G. Hill of the Western District of Kentucky announced today.

The Indictment alleges that on or about August 12, 2008 Carr escaped from federal custody after being confined at the Dismas House following his conviction under federal Indictment 1:00CR-36-002-M, for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, possession of a firearm by convicted felon, and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. The Indictment further alleges, that on January 6, 2008 Carr was in possession of child pornography that had been transported in interstate commerce. On the same date, the Indictment alleges that Carr was also in possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute it, as well as, the precursor chemicals, materials, and equipment necessary to manufacture methamphetamine with the intent to manufacture it. The Indictment also alleges on September 9, 2008, Carr was in possession the precursor chemicals, materials, and equipment necessary to manufacture methamphetamine with the intent to manufacture it.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Mac Shannon, and it was investigated by the United States Marshall, Louisville Metro Police Department 6th Division, Crimes Against Children Unit (CACU), and the Clandestine Lab Team (CLT).

In the event of a conviction, the maximum potential penalties are no more than 115 years’ imprisonment , a $5,000,000 fine, and supervised release following incarceration for a period of up to life. There is no parole in the federal judicial system.

The defendant is scheduled to appear for arraignment before the United States Magistrate Judge on August 18, 2009 at 9:00 a.m., in Louisville, Kentucky.

only and that person is presumed innocent until and unless
proven guilty.
