MAN AND WOMAN FROM NEW YORK INDICTED FOR CONSPIRACY TO DISTRIBUTE HEROIN
– Investigation by DEA

LOUISVILLE, KY - A federal grand jury in Louisville returned an indictment against Adam Saeed-Watara, age 37, and Irene Dunuh, age 22, both of New York, New York, on charges of conspiracy to distribute more than one kilogram of heroin, Acting United States Attorney Candace G. Hill of the Western District of Kentucky announced today.

The Indictment alleges that on March 12, 2009, in Jefferson County, Kentucky, the defendants conspired to knowingly and intentionally distribute and possess with intent to distribute one kilogram or more of a mixture and substance containing a detectable amount of heroin, a Schedule II controlled substance. Heroin sells on the street for approximately $250 per gram. A kilogram is worth approximately $250,000.

In the event of a conviction, the maximum potential penalties are life imprisonment, a $4,000,000 fine, and supervised release for a period of not less than five years. There is a mandatory minimum penalty of not less than ten years' imprisonment.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Larry Fentress, and it was investigated by the United States Drug Enforcement Administration.

The defendants are scheduled to appear for arraignment before the United States Magistrate Judge on August 18, 2009, at 9:30 a.m., in Louisville, Kentucky.

only and that person is presumed innocent until and unless
proven guilty.
