PADUCAH MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO THEFT FROM POST OFFICE
– Postal employee admits to stealing from the post office
PADUCAH, KY - Acting U.S. Attorney Candace G. Hill of the Western District of Kentucky announced today that James Moore, age 57, of Paducah, Kentucky, pleaded guilty on August 14, 2009, to eleven counts of misappropriation of postal funds.
The Indictment alleged that between July 2008 through December 2008, Moore, a sales associate for the Avondale, Kentucky Postal Station, stole money from the U.S. Post Office. The total loss is estimated at less than $1,000.
In the event of a conviction, the maximum potential penalties are 1 year imprisonment, a $100,000 fine, and supervised release for a period of up to 1 year for each count.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Lettricea Jefferson-Webb, and it was investigated by the United States Postal Service, Office of the Inspector General.
Moore is scheduled to appear for sentencing before the United States Magistrate Judge King on November 12, 2009, at 10:00 a.m., in Paducah, Kentucky.
