TWO PLEAD GUILTY TO DISTRIBUTING HYDROCODONE

BOWLING GREEN, KY - Teresa Karen Taylor, age 47, and her daughter Candice Nell Thomas, age 27, both of Columbia, Kentucky, in Adair County, pled guilty to distributing hydrocodone and Suboxone, Acting United States Attorney Candace G. Hill of the Western District of Kentucky announced today.

Taylor admitted that in July and September 2008 she distributed hydrocodone on four separate occasions. Thomas admitted that she distributed Suboxone in August 2008, and twice distributed hydrocodone in September 2008. Suboxone and hydrocodone, in pill form, are both Schedule III controlled substances available only by prescription.

The maximum potential penalties for Teresa Taylor are 10 years’ imprisonment, a $500,000 fine, and supervised release for a period of not less than 4 years, and for Candice Thomas are 5 years’ imprisonment, a $250,000 fine, and supervised release for a period not less than 2 years.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney David Weiser, and it was investigated by the Kentucky State Police.

The pleas were entered before Thomas B. Russell, Judge, United States District Court, Bowling Green, Kentucky.

Taylor and Thomas are scheduled to be sentenced before Judge Russell on November 13, 2009, at 9:00 a.m., in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
