WEST POINT WOMAN INDICTED FOR FRAUDULENTLY OBTAINING WORKERS’ COMPENSATION BENEFITS
LOUISVILLE, KY - Candace G. Hill, United States Attorney for the Western District of Kentucky, announced today that a federal grand jury in Louisville returned a two-count Indictment against Teddi R. Blanford, age 48, of West Point, Kentucky, charging her with obtaining workers’ compensation disability benefits from the United States Department of Labor and the United States Postal Service by fraudulently misrepresenting and concealing her true medical and physical condition.
The Indictment alleges that Blanford received disability benefits through the United States Department of Labor Office of Workers Compensation Programs from July 6, 2006 through November 4, 2008, by intentionally misrepresenting during that period of time her medical condition and concealing from the agency the true nature of her physical abilities and medical condition.
In the event of a conviction, the maximum potential penalties are 25 years’ imprisonment, a $500,000 fine, and supervised release for a period of 3 years.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Jim Lesousky, and it was investigated by the United States Postal Service, Office of Inspector General.
Blanford is scheduled to appear for arraignment before the United States Magistrate Judge on September 22, 2009, at 9:00 a.m., in Louisville, Kentucky.

only and that person is presumed innocent until and unless
proven guilty.
