MEXICAN ILLEGAL ALIEN CHARGED WITH ILLEGAL RE-ENTRY AFTER DEPORTATION
– Prior convictions and previously removed from United States on two occasions

PADUCAH, KY - A federal grand jury in Bowling Green returned an indictment against Saul Gonzalez-Trujillo a/k/a Ricardo Gonzalez, age 41, of Mexico, on charges of re-entry into the United States after deportation, United States Attorney Candace G. Hill of the Western District of Kentucky announced today.

The Indictment alleges that Gonzalez-Trujillo, an alien and citizen of Mexico, was found in the United States, after having been previously deported from the United States on or about August 27, 2004, subsequent to a conviction for commission of an aggravated felony, to wit: forcible oral copulation in Case SS991344A in Superior Court, Salinas, California, when said Defendant did not have the consent of the Attorney General of the United States or the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security to apply for re-entry into the United States. According to Immigration Records, Gonzalez-Trujillo had also been previously deported from the United States on or about February 12, 1993 following a subsequent conviction for burglary in Case No.: CR-92-198 in Superior Court, Aroostook County, Maine.

According to the criminal complaint that was filed in this case on or about July 14, 2009, an Offender Information Specialist of the Department of Corrections (DOC) located in Frankfort, Kentucky contacted a Supervisory Deportation and Detention Officer regarding Gonzalez-Trujillo, who was serving a three-year sentence in Graves County Circuit Court for the offenses of wanton endangerment (1st degree) and theft by unlawful taking greater than $100 (08-CR-046). On July 31, 2009, an Immigration Enforcement Agent interviewed Gonzalez-Trujillo who had been using the alias Ricardo Gonzalez in Graves County. Trujillo’s fingerprints were taken at that time and were later confirmed to match fingerprints on file for Saul Gonzalez-Trujillo who had been deported from the United States on two separate occasions.

In the event of a conviction, the maximum potential penalties are 20 years’ imprisonment, a $250,000 fine, and supervised release for a period of 3 years.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Michele Thielhorn, and it was investigated by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Gonzalez-Trujillo is scheduled to appear for arraignment before the United States Magistrate Judge on October 14, 2009, at 1:30 p.m. in Paducah, Kentucky.
