FEDERAL GRAND JURY INDICTS BARREN COUNTY MAN FOR RECEIVING AND POSSESSING CHILD PORNOGRAPHY
BOWLING GREEN, KY - A federal grand jury in Bowling Green, returned an indictment against Joseph Taylor, age 61, of Glasgow, Kentucky, on charges of possession and receipt of child pornography, United States Attorney Candace G. Hill of the Western District of Kentucky announced today.
The Indictment alleges on May 3, 2007, Taylor possessed images of child pornography. The indictment also alleges that between July 2, 2003 and May 3, 2007, Taylor received images of child pornography, via a computer, in interstate commerce.
In the event of a conviction, the maximum potential penalties are 30 years’ imprisonment, a $750,000 fine, and supervised release for a period of life; and the minimum potential penalty is 5 years’ imprisonment.
This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative designed to protect children from online exploitation and abuse. Led by the United States Attorney’s Offices, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state and local resources to better locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as identify and rescue victims. Assistant United States Attorney Mac Shannon is prosecuting the case. The Barren County Sheriff's Office conducted the investigation with assistance from the Regional Computer Forensic Laboratory.
Taylor is scheduled to appear for arraignment before the United States Magistrate Judge on September 23, 2009, at 9:30 a.m., in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
