BRANDENBURG MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO POSSESSING CHILD PORNOGRAPHY AND POSSESSION OF CHEMICALS USED TO MANUFACTURE METHAMPHETAMINE
LOUISVILLE, KY - U.S. Attorney Candace Hill of the Western District of Kentucky announced today that Neal Lowther, age 31, of Brandenburg, Kentucky, in Meade County, pled guilty on September 18, 2009, to attempted receipt and possession of approximately 200 images of child pornography and possession of chemicals, including 8.27 grams of pseudoephedrine, with intent to use the chemicals to manufacture methamphetamine.
The maximum potential penalties are 50 years’ imprisonment, a $750,000 fine, and supervised release for a period of life; and the minimum potential penalties are 5 years’ imprisonment and supervised release for a period of 5 years.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Jim Lesousky, and it was investigated by Immigration Customs and Enforcement.
Lowther is scheduled to sentenced before United States District Judge Charles R. Simpson, III, on December 21, 2009, at 3:30 p.m., in Louisville, Kentucky.
