LOUISVILLE BUSINESSMAN CHARGED WITH THREATENING TO KILL TWO FORMER EMPLOYEES
LOUISVILLE, KY - Candace G. Hill, United States Attorney for the Western District of Kentucky, announced today that a federal grand jury in Louisville returned an Indictment against Keith E. Shaw, age 55, of Louisville, Kentucky, charging him with attempting to kill two individual in retaliation for their assistance to law enforcement officers in a federal criminal investigation.
Evidence introduced at a preliminary hearing following Shaw’s arrest on August 25, 2009, showed that Shaw offered to pay his son $100,000 to kill two former employees of Shaw’s business, Shaw Aero Instruments, because these two individuals were providing information and evidence to law enforcement officers related to criminal investigations of some of Shaw’s alleged fraudulent business practices.
In the event of a conviction, the maximum potential penalties are 30 years’ imprisonment, a $250,000 fine, and supervised release for a period of 5 years.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Jim Lesousky, and it was investigated by the Defense Criminal Investigative Service.
Shaw is scheduled to appear for arraignment before the United States magistrate judge on September 28, 2009, at 2:30 p.m., in Louisville, Kentucky.

only and that person is presumed innocent until and unless
proven guilty.
