DEFENDANT AT LAKE CUMBERLAND IS SENTENCED
– Destruction of trees for scenic view of lake
LOUISVILLE, KY - Leigh B. Miller, of Jamestown, Kentucky, pled guilty on September 23, 2009, to destruction of vegetation on public property at Lake Cumberland. He was ordered to replant 40 trees and to pay restitution of $10,000 to the Army Corps of Engineers, by United States Magistrate Judge Robert Goebel, United States Attorney Candace G. Hill of the Western District of Kentucky announced today.
Miller was able to illegally obtain a scenic view of Lake Cumberland from his summer home by the use of herbicides, fires, and tree cuttings on public property over a number of years.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney James H. Barr and it was investigated by the Army Corps of Engineers.
