TWO LOUISVILLE MEN SENTENCED FOR DISTRIBUTING HYDROCODONE
– Over 12,000 pills seized

LOUISVILLE, KY - Shannon Gerard Smith, age 40, of Louisville, Kentucky, was sentenced to 3 years’ and 10 months’ imprisonment, and Warren Allan Dillard, age 30, of Louisville, Kentucky, was sentenced to 1 year and 3 months’ imprisonment in United States District Court, Louisville, Kentucky, for conspiring to distribute, and possessing with the intent to distribute hydrocodone, United States Attorney Candace G. Hill of the Western District of Kentucky announced today. Joseph H. McKinley, Jr., Judge, United States District Court, also sentenced Smith and Dillard to 3 years’ supervised release following imprisonment. There is no parole in the federal judicial system.

In July 2009, Smith and Dillard pled guilty to conspiring between April 2008 and May 9, 2008, to possess with the intent to distribute over 12,000 hydrocodone pills. Hydrocodone is an addictive Schedule III pain reliever that can only be legally obtained by prescription.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney David Weiser, and it was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Louisville Metro Police Department.
