NORTHSHORE AREA MAN SENTENCED
TO OVER 20 YEARS IN FEDERAL PRISON
FOR NARCOTICS VIOLATION

KOJAK BATISTE, age 32, a resident of Lacombe, Louisiana, was sentenced by U. S. District Judge Mary Ann Vial Lemmon to 262 months imprisonment for distributing cocaine base (crack), announced U. S Attorney Jim Letten. In addition to the term of imprisonment, Judge Lemmon imposed a ten (10) year period of supervised release following the term of imprisonment. During the ten-year term, the defendant will be under federal supervision and risks an additional term of imprisonment should he violate any terms of his supervised release.
On March 7, 2007, KOJAK BATISTE previously entered a guilty plea before Judge Lemmon admitting that on December 30, 2005, he illegally distributed 64.99 grams of crack cocaine to a FBI cooperative witness in exchange for $2100.00.
BATISTE is a career offender and the Court imposed a sentence within the recommended guidelines range. After sentencing, BATISTE was remanded to the custody of the United States Marshal’s Service to begin his term of imprisonment.
This case was investigated by Special Agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation along with members of the Saint Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office, Narcotics Division. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney, Duane A. Evans.
