IMMIGRATION AND CUSTOMS ENFORCEMENT DETAIN ALIEN AFTER ILLEGAL RE-ENTRY

WALTER AGUILAR-RODRIGUEZ, age 23, a resident of Honduras, was charged in a one-count indictment by a Federal Grand Jury for illegal re-entry by an alien previously deported, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten.
According to court documents, on January 23, 2007, WALTER AGUILAR-RODRIGUEZ, an alien who had previously been removed and deported from the United States, was found in the United States within the Eastern District of Louisiana without having applied for re-admission to the United States. If convicted, AGUILAR-RODRIGUEZ faces a maximum term of imprisonment of ten (10) years, a fine of $250,000.00 and one (1) year of supervised release following any term of imprisonment.
U. S. Attorney Letten reiterated that the indictment is merely a charge and that the guilt of the defendant must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.
The case was investigated by the Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U. S. Attorney Andre’ Jones.
