NEW ORLEANS MAN INDICTED
BY FEDERAL GRAND JURY
ON DRUG DISTRIBUTION CHARGES

ANTHONY C. KING, age 22 of New Orleans, was charged in a three-count federal indictment for distribution of crack cocaine, possession of crack cocaine with intent to distribute and possession of firearms in furtherance of drug trafficking, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten.
According to the court documents, on June 26, 2006, New Orleans Police Officers observed KING distributing crack cocaine in the 1000 block of Verret Street. Officers subsequently obtained a state search warrant and upon executing the search warrant on a residence in the same block, found KING, along with an amount of crack cocaine, and numerous firearms.
If convicted, KING faces a maximum sentence of twenty (20) years, a $2 million fine, and four (4) years of supervised release as to of each drug charge; and faces minimum term of imprisonment of five (5) years, not to run concurrently with any other term of imprisonment, a $250,000 fine, and five (5) of supervised release as to the gun charge.
U. S. Attorney Letten reiterated that the indictment is only a charge and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
The case was investigated by the Officers with the New Orleans Police Department and Special Agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The prosecution is being handled by Assistant U. S. Attorney Sanford C. Coats.
