TWO ALIENS PLEAD GUILTY TO SOCIAL SECURITY FRAUD

In separate cases, two illegal aliens pled guilty in Federal Court to misuse of a Social Security Number, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten. In the first case, JOVAN PADILLA-MALDONADO, a/k/a Jovan Padilla ,a/k/a Nerson Quien, age 25, a resident of Mexico, pled guilty to a one-count indictment by a Federal Grand Jury. According to the factual basis, on February 8, 2008, PADILLA-MALDONADO, an illegal alien, used another person’s Social Security Number to obtain educational services within the Eastern District of Louisiana.
In the second case, ROBERTO HUERTA-BACA, a/k/a Samuel Melendez Morales, age 35, a resident of Mexico, pled guilty to a one count indictment by a Federal Grand Jury for misuse of a Social Security Number. According to the factual basis, on February 6, 2008, HUERTA-BACA, an illegal alien, used another person’s social security number to obtain educational services within the Eastern District of Louisiana.
Both defendants face a maximum term of imprisonment of five (5) years, a fine of $250,000.00 and three years of supervised release following any term of imprisonment. After the completion of any sentence, the defendants will be deported to Mexico. Sentencing as to both defendants has been scheduled for July 9, 2008 at 9:30 A.M.
These case were investigated by the Immigrations and Customs Enforcement and the Social Security Administration. The prosecution of these cases are being handled by Assistant U. S. Attorney W. Scott Laragy.
