ALIEN SENTENCED FOR ILLEGALLY REENTERING THE UNITED STATES
April 30, 2008
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
GUSTAVO ADOLFO LAZO-MARTINEZ, age 24, was sentenced by United States District Judge Sarah S. Vance in connection with his guilty plea to a one-count indictment charging him with violating Title 8, United States Code, Section 1326(a), illegal reentry of a deported alien, announced U.S. Attorney Jim Letten.
LAZO-MARTINEZ was sentenced today by U.S. District Judge Sarah S. Vance to time served, approximately six months.
According to court documents, in early November, 2007, GUSTAVO ADOLFO LAZO-MARTINEZ, a previously deported alien, was found in the United States working in the St. Bernard Parish area. LAZO-MARTINEZ had been deported from the United States to Honduras on September 25, 2006. LAZO-MARTINEZ admitted that he was born in Tegucigalpa, Honduras and that he re-entered the United States on or about February 15, 2007 at or near Lukeville, Arizona. Furthermore, LAZO-MARTINEZ did not receive consent from the United States Attorney General or his designated successor, the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, to apply for readmission to the United States since the time of his previous deportation.
The case was investigated by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the Federal Bureau of Investigation and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Michael W. Magner.
