FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
LARRY ALFRED, age 32, a resident of New Orleans, Louisiana, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Ivan R. Lemelle to sixty-three (63) months imprisonment for possessing a firearm as a convicted felon, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten. In addition to the term of imprisonment, Judge Lemelle imposed three (3) years of supervised release following the term of imprisonment, during which time, the defendant will be under federal supervision and risks an additional term of imprisonment should he violate any terms of his supervised release.
According to court documents, ALFRED was in possession of a firearm on May 7, 2007, in the Eastern District of Louisiana. ALFRED was convicted on August 29, 2000, in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana, Criminal Docket No. 00-00205 “C,” for possession of a firearm while being a convicted felon, making ALFRED a prohibited person in possession of a firearm.
The Court imposed a sentence within the recommended guidelines range. After sentencing, ALFRED was remanded to the custody of the United States Marshal’s Service to begin his term of imprisonment.
