FLORIDA MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO MAILING THREATENING LETTERS

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ROBERT C. MCNAMARA, age 47, of Orlando, Florida, pled guilty this morning to a two count indictment for mailing threatening communications, announced U.S. Attorney Jim Letten.

According to the factual basis, on September 15, 2003, MCNAMARA, mailed a threatening letter to former Orleans Parish District Attorney Eddie J. Jordan, Jr. Additionally, on August 23, 2007, MCNAMARA mailed a threatening letter to New Orleans City Council Member-at-Large Arnie Fielkow. Both letters contained crude and violent language, and made specific threats of physical harm against Mr. Jordan and Mr. Fielkow, as well as Mr. Fielkow’s family members.

United States District Court Judge Lance Africk scheduled MCNAMARA’s sentencing date for February5, 2008 at 2:00 P.M.. MCNAMARA faces a maximum term of imprisonment of five (5) years, a fine of $250,000.00 and three (3) years of supervised release following any term of imprisonment as to each count of the indictment.

The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney W. Scott Laragy and Michael W. Magner.
