HOUMA MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO CHILD PORNOGRAPHY CHARGES
November 12, 2008
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
ANTONNIO PICKETT, 32, of Houma, Louisiana, pled guilty in federal court before U. S. District Judge Mary Ann Vial Lemmon to Possession of Child Pornography, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten today.
ANTONNIO PICKETT was charged in an Indictment with Possession of Child Pornography in October, 2007. According to a factual basis, Special Agents from the U. S. Department of Homeland Security Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) obtained and executed federal search warrants for computers and thumb drives that were found in PICKETT’s possession in Venice, Louisiana. PICKETT admitted that he had purchased subscriptions to child pornography websites and that a computer forensic search of the seized computers and related evidence revealed approximately 1129 images depicting the sexual victimization of children. According to PICKETT, he would search for child pornography using the search terms “young hot Latina’s” and “illegal.”
PICKETT faces a maximum sentence of ten (10) years in federal prison. Upon his release from custody he will be placed on supervised release up to a term of life, be required to give a DNA sample, and will have to register as a sex offender. Sentencing in this matter is scheduled for February 18, 2009 at 2:00 P.M.
This case was investigated by the Department of Homeland Security, Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement along with the assistance from the Houma Police Department and the Plaquemines Parish Sheriff’s Office. The prosecution of this case is being handled by Assistant U. S. Attorney Brian M. Klebba.
