ILLEGAL ALIEN SENTENCED IN FEDERAL COURT

JAIME ENRIQUE GAMEZ, age 41, a resident of Nicaragua, was sentenced by U. S. District Judge Ivan L. R. Lemelle to three and one-half (3 ½) months imprisonment with credit for time served, after pleading guilty to one-count of fraud and misuse of alien registration receipt card and one-count of illegal use of a Social Security Number, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten.

According to court documents, JAIME ENRIQUE GAMEZ admitted that he used and possessed and alien registration receipt card prescribed by statute for entry into or evidence of authorized stay or employment in the United States, knowing it to have been forged, counterfeited, altered and falsely made. GAMEZ was also charged with, for the purpose of obtaining employment, knowingly and with intent to deceive falsely representing that a Social Security Number was assigned to him by the Commissioner of Social Security when he knew said number had not been assigned to him by the Commissioner of Social Security. GAMEZ was indicted by a federal grand jury on July 31, 2008.

The case was investigated by the U. S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The case was prosecuted by Assistant U. S. Attorneys Irfan Saeed and Robert Weir.
