ILLEGAL ALIEN SENTENCED IN FEDERAL COURT

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

RICARDO ROBERTO RODRIGUEZ-PONCE, age 33, a citizen of Honduras, was sentenced by Judge Sarah S. Vance to seven (7) months imprisonment with credit for time served and one year supervised release, after pleading guilty to unlawfully re-entering the United States after being deported, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten.

According to court records, on March 27, 2008, RODRIGUEZ-PONCE was found in Metairie, Louisiana. RODRIGUEZ-PONCE had been deported from the United States in 2000. The defendant had never applied to re-enter the United States lawfully. RICARDO ROBERTO RODRIGUEZ-PONCE, will be deported to Honduras after his release from confinement.

The case was investigated by agents of the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement and was prosecuted by Assistant U. S. Attorney Irene González.
