NEW ORLEANS MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO FEDERAL BANK ROBBERY CHARGES

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

STEVEN LYLE FICKES, age 47, a resident of New Orleans, Louisiana, pled guilty today to one count of bank robbery before U.S. District Judge Helen G. Berrigan, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten.

According to the Factual Basis, on July 21, 2008, FICKES robbed the Capital One Bank located on 137 Royal Street in New Orleans of approximately $400 in United States currency. FICKES was apprehended by the New Orleans Police Department as he ran from the bank through the Central Business District.

The defendant faces a maximum term of imprisonment of twenty (20) years, a fine of $250,000.00, and three (3) years of supervised release following any term of imprisonment. He is scheduled to be sentenced on February 18, 2009, at 9:00 A.M.

The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and is being prosecuted by Assistant U. S. Attorney Edward J. Rivera.
