ILLEGAL ALIEN PLEADS GUILTY TO ILLEGAL RE-ENTRY
November 13, 2008
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
HECTOR CHAVEZ-SUAREZ, age 24, a resident of Mexico, pled guilty yesterday before U. S. District Judge Ivan L.R. Lemelle to one-count of illegal re-entry by a deported alien, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten. CHAVEZ-SUAREZ faces a maximum penalty of two (2) years imprisonment.
According to the factual basis, HECTOR CHAVEZ-SUAREZ admitted that he was illegal alien and was unlawfully found in Orleans Parish, without the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security having expressly consenting to the defendant’s re-application for admission into the United States. HECTOR CHAVEZ-SUAREZ was indicted by a federal grand jury on October 16, 2008.
The case was investigated by United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U. S. Attorney Matt Chester.
