FEDERAL GRAND JURY INDICTS MAN FOR DISTRIBUTING CRACK COCAINE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
RANDY ANDREWS, age 27, a resident of Hammond, Louisiana, was charged in a two-count indictment by a Federal Grand Jury for distributing fifty grams or more of cocaine base (“crack”), announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten.
According to the Indictment, Count 1 charges that on February 29, 2008, ANDREWS distributed fifty (50) grams or more of cocaine base (crack). Count 2 charges that on March 13, 2008, ANDREWS again distributed fifty (50) grams or more of cocaine base (crack).
If convicted each count carries a mandatory minimum of ten (10) years and a maximum of life imprisonment, a fine of up to $4 million and five (5) years of supervised release following any term of imprisonment.
U. S. Attorney Letten reiterated that the indictment is merely a charge and that the guilt of the defendant must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.
The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U. S. Attorney Theodore Carter.
