BANK ROBBER SENTENCED TO OVER 16 YEARS IN FEDERAL PRISON

CORNELL MORRIS, a/k/a Carnell Morris, age 46, a resident of New Orleans, Louisiana, was sentenced in federal court by U. S. District Judge Eldon Fallon to over sixteen years (200 months) imprisonment for bank robbery, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten.

According to court documents, MORRIS entered the Regions Bank located at 1820 St. Charles Avenue, New Orleans, Louisiana, shortly after the bank opened. MORRIS approached a teller and gave the teller a hand written note that stated, “Look at my neck I want to die give me all Hundres” and placed his right hand into his right pocket as if he were reaching for a gun. The teller handed approximately $4,200 in bank funds to MORRIS and he then calmly exited the bank and walked down St. Charles Avenue.

The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The prosecution was handled by Assistant U. S. Attorney Liz Privitera of the Violent Crime Unit.
