ALIEN SENTENCED AFTER PLEADING GUILTY TO ILLEGAL RE-ENTRY
December 3, 2008
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
FLORENTINO ELGUERA-ROSENDO, age 49, a resident of Mexico, was sentenced by U. S. District Judge Eldon E. Fallon to forty-one (41) months imprisonment and two (2) years of supervised release after he pled guilty to one count of illegal reentry of alien previously deported, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten.
According to court documents, on May 14, 2008, FLORENTINO ELGUERA-ROSENDO was found in the United States within the Eastern District of Louisiana, without having obtained consent from the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security to reapply for admission to the United States, after previously being removed and deported from the United States. Because the defendant was convicted of an aggravated felony (robbery) on February 4, 2002, in Brezoria County, Texas, Judge Fallon handed down an enhanced sentence.
The case was investigated by the U. S. Border Patrol. The prosecution was handled by Assistant U. S. Attorney Andre Jones.
