ILLEGAL ALIEN PLEADS GUILTY AND IS SENTENCED IN FEDERAL COURT

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

MARVIN ALCANTRA-HERNANDEZ, age 35, a resident of Mexico, plead guilty in federal court to illegal entry and was sentenced by U. S. District Judge Carl Barbier to four months imprisonment with credit for time served and one year of supervised release, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten.

According to court documents, on July 30, 2008, MARVIN ALCANTRA-HERNANDEZ was found in Orleans Parish without having obtained consent from the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security to reapply for admission to the United States.

The case was investigated by the Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney W. Scott Laragy.
