BOGALUSA MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO FEDERAL GUN CHARGES

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

MARVIN D. MAGEE, age 41 and a resident of Bogalusa, Louisiana, pled guilty today in federal court before U. S. District Judge Carl Barbier to a two count indictment of possessing a firearm after previously being convicted of a felony, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten.

According to documents filed in federal court, MAGEE was convicted on September 8, 2000, in Washington Parish of a felony. On February 7, 2008, a Louisiana State Probation Officer assigned to supervise MAGEE was conducting a residence check on MAGEE’s residence in Bogalusa, Louisiana. During the residence check, the Probation recovered a total of two rifles and six shotguns.

MAGEE faces a possible maximum penalty of ten (10) years imprisonment and a $250,000.00 fine as to each count. He is scheduled to be sentenced on March 18, 2009.

This case was investigated by Agents of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosive (ATF) and the Louisiana Department of Probation. The prosecution is being handled by Assistant United States Attorneys Tony Gordon Sanders and Edward J. Rivera of the Violent Crime Unit.
