NEW ORLEANS WOMAN SENTENCED FOR BANK THEFT

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
NATIRA SMITH, age 32, a resident of New Orleans, Louisiana, was sentenced by U. S. District Judge Eldon E. Fallon to three (3) years probation for Bank Theft, announced U. S Attorney Jim Letten. SMITH was also ordered to pay $4,000.00 to the Capital One Bank. SMITH has already paid $3,000.00 in restitution to the bank.
According to the evidence, SMITH was employed as a teller at the Capital One Bank located at 2201 Veterans Blvd in Metairie Louisiana. During the course of her employment, SMITH systematically began taking bank monies from her teller drawer placing it on her body and then stealing them from the bank at the end of her shift. Upon an investigation by the bank and the Federal Bureau of Investigation it was determined that SMITH had stolen approximately $7,000.00.
This case was investigated by Special Agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Juan M. Masini.
