TEXAS MAN SENTENCED TO FEDERAL PRISON FOR GUN VIOLATIONS

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
AARON McMILLAN, age 33, a resident of Humble, Texas was sentenced by U. S. District Judge Sarah Vance to twelve (12) months and one day imprisonment for possessing a firearm as a convicted felon, announced U. S Attorney Jim Letten. In addition to the term of imprisonment, Judge Vance imposed three (3) years of supervised release following the prison term, during which time the defendant will be under federal supervision and risks an additional imprisonment should he violate any terms of his supervised release.
According to court documents, on July 28, 2006, members of the New Orleans Police Department made a traffic stop of the vehicle in which McMILLAN was a passenger. During the traffic stop, the officers learned that McMILLAN had an outstanding warrant for a parole violation. During the arrest, officers discovered that McMILLAN was in possession of a firearm as he was sitting on top of a Ruger 9 millimeter semi-automatic firearm. McMILLAN has a prior arrest record and has at least one prior felony conviction.
This case was investigated by Special Agents of the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco Firearms and Explosive (ATF) along with the officers of the New Orleans Police Department. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Juan M. Masini.
