ILLEGAL ALIEN PLEADS GUILTY IN FEDERAL COURT

ERVEY ARCOS ROSAS, age 30, a resident of Mexcio City, Mexico, pled guilty in federal court before U. S. District Judge Carl J. Barbier to one count of making a false statement in a passport application and one count of illegal re-entry by a deported alien, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten.
The defendant faces a maximum penalty of ten (10) years imprisonment for the false statement count, and two (2) years imprisonment for the illegal reentry count.
According to the factual basis, in an application for a passport, ERVEY ARCOS ROSAS stated that he was Daniel Green, born on August 8, 1981, in Puerto Rico and provided Green’s social security card number, driver’s license, and birth certificate as proof of citizenship. ROSAS also admitted that was previously deported from the United States and that he was unlawfully found in the United States in Orleans Parish, Louisiana, without the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, having expressly consented to his re-application for admission into the United States.
The case was investigated by U. S. Department of State, Diplomatic Security Service. The prosecution was handled by Assistant U. S. Attorney Spiro G. Latsis.
