MAN LINKED TO OVERDOSE DEATH OF 16 YEAR OLD STUDENT PLEAS GUILTY TO FEDERAL DRUG CHARGES

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CLINTON RODRIGUEZ, a/k/a “South,” age 30, a resident of New Orleans, Louisiana, pled guilty yesterday in federal court before U. S. District Judge Kurt Engelhardt to a two-count Superseding Bill of Information charging him with conspiracy to distribute and possession with intent to distribute one kilogram or more of heroin, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten.

According to court documents, RODRIGUEZ had been implicated as the source of the heroin that Maddy Prevost, a 16-year old Lusher student, overdosed on in January of this year. RODRIGUEZ’s plea included his admission that he had one prior drug felony conviction from Orleans Parish.

The defendant faces a mandatory minimum of twenty (20) years and a possible maximum term of life imprisonment.

The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The prosecution was handled by Assistant U. S. Attorney Emily Greenfield.
