December 30, 2008

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NISHIA WILSON, age 57, of Beaumont, Texas, pled guilty this morning to a one count Bill of Information for violating Title 18, United States Code, Section 844 (e), by maliciously conveying false information, announced U.S. Attorney Jim Letten.

According to the factual basis introduced today, on or about February 18, 2008, the defendant, NISHIA WILSON, placed a telephone call from the State of Texas to an Louisiana offshore oil platform owned by Murphy Oil Company 103 miles south of Port Fourchon. United States District Court Judge Lance Africk accepted her plea of guilty and scheduled WILSON’s sentencing date for April 2, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. WILSON faces a maximum term of imprisonment of ten (10) years, a fine of $250,000.00 and three (3) years of supervised release following any term of imprisonment.

The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Coast Guard Criminal Investigative Service and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney W. Scott Laragy.
