BOGALUSA MAN SENTENCED TO 30 MONTHS FOR VIOLATION OF FEDERAL GUN CHARGES

MARVIN D. MAGEE, age 41, a resident of Bogalusa, Louisiana, was sentenced to 30 months in federal prison by U. S. District Judge Carl J. Barbier for being a previously convicted felon in possession of a firearm, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten today.
According to documents filed in federal court, MAGEE, who was previously convicted for Second Degree Battery in Washington Parish in 2000, unlawfully possessed a Norinco Rifle and a Russian Mosin Nagant rifle in his residence on February 7, 2008. In addition to the 30 month sentence, MAGEE was ordered to undergo 3 years of supervised release after his incarceration and to pay a $200 special assessment fee to the United States.
This case was investigated by Special Agents of the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives along with the St. Tammany Probation Office and was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Tony Gordon Sanders and Edward J. Rivera of the Violent Crime Unit.
