TEXAS RESIDENT PLEADS GUILTY TO POSSESSION OF DRUGS

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
MARIA RUEDA, age 37, resident of Wichita Falls, Texas pled guilty to in court today before U. S. District Judge Jay C. Zainey to the charge of possession with the intent to distribute cocaine, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten.
According to court documents, it is alleged that an investigation conducted by the DEA revealed that on March 26, 2009, RUEDA and her boyfriend, Gilbert Perez, were caught trying to distribute a kilogram of cocaine powder in Hammond, Louisiana.
RUEDA was indicted by a federal grand jury on April 16, 2009. She face a maximum face a maximum term of imprisonment of forty (40) years, a fine of $2,000,000 and four years of supervised release following any term of imprisonment. Sentencing has been scheduled for September 3, 2009, at 10:00am.
The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Agency and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Spiro Latsis.
