CONVICTED FELON PLEADS GUILTY TO FEDERAL DRUG CHARGES

KIM JONES, age 48, pled guilty today before United States District Judge Jay C. Zainey to Counts 9 & 13 of a multi-count indictment for distribution of a quantity of cocaine base (crack), announced United States Attorney Jim Letten.
According to court documents, JONES admitted that on July 1 and 3, 2008, she sold crack cocaine on two separate occasions to undercover law enforcement agents. JONES faces a maximum term of imprisonment of forty (40) years, a fine of $2 million and at least four (4) years of supervised release following any term of imprisonment. Sentencing is set for September 1, 2009 at 10:00 a.m.
This investigation was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Louisiana State Police, and the New Orleans Police Department. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Duane A. Evans.
